Book Now, Celebrate Later: Planning Your Summer Corporate Event
Planning a corporate summer event in Ireland? Start with three things: where it will take place, how many people are attending and whether you already have an activity in mind.
A summer event could be an afternoon of team building at your office, an away day at a hotel or a larger company event with activities, food, entertainment and production.
When a company first contacts us about a summer event, we usually start with three questions:
- Where will it take place?
- How many people are attending?
- Do you already have an activity in mind?
From there, we can start working out what will actually suit the group and the day you have planned.
Start With the Location and Group Size
If you already have a venue booked, we can look at the space available and recommend activities that work there. That could mean using hotel grounds, an outdoor area at your workplace or another suitable event venue.
Group size matters too. What works for 30 people isn't necessarily the right format for several hundred. We look at the space available, how teams can be divided and where the activity needs to fit into the day's schedule.
If you haven't chosen a venue yet, our Event Management team can also help with venue sourcing and the wider event planning.
Choosing a Summer Team Building Activity
Some clients come to us knowing exactly what they want. Others know they want to get everyone outside, add something competitive to the day or simply find an activity that will work for their group.
Options can include sports-style challenges, treasure hunts, activities around hotel or venue grounds and other outdoor team competitions.
When we're recommending an activity, we'll consider the group size, location, available time and how active you want it to be. A 90-minute activity between meetings needs a different format to an afternoon set aside entirely for team building.
Have a Plan for Irish Weather
Good weather is always welcome, but it's better not to make the whole event dependent on it.
We have marquees available for outdoor events where appropriate. If you also have an indoor room booked at the venue, we can look at switching to a suitable indoor activity if the weather changes the plan.
It's much easier to have those options considered in advance than to start looking for an alternative on the morning of the event.
Do You Need an Activity or the Full Event Managed?
Some clients already have their venue, catering and schedule organised and bring us in specifically to deliver the team building.
Others ask us to manage the wider summer event. Depending on the brief, that can include venue sourcing, suppliers, catering, entertainment, production, AV, logistics and onsite delivery.
You don't need to hand over the entire event to work with us. We can deliver one part of the day or manage the wider event.
Corporate Summer Events We've Delivered
Previous summer events we've worked on show how different these briefs can be.
For Microsoft Microfest, we managed a large-scale company festival with multiple activities and entertainment taking place across the event.
Qualapalooza for Qualtrics combined team activities with a wider summer event format.
We've also worked on Teamwork's Grand Council and TikTok's Summer Sound Live Check, each with its own event requirements and format.
The starting point isn't trying to recreate someone else's summer event. It's working out what makes sense for your group, location and plans for the day.
Planning a Corporate Summer Event?
You don't need to have everything decided before getting in touch. A location, approximate number of attendees and an idea of the type of activity or event you're considering gives us enough to start looking at suitable options.
If you need team building, we can recommend activities around your group, venue and schedule. If you're planning the full event, our Event Management team can help with the wider planning and delivery.
