Ornua’s Graduate Onboarding: Turning Inductions into Confidence
We partnered with Ornua to design a hands-on graduate onboarding day that built connection, boosted confidence and brought their company culture to life.
Meet The Client
Meet Ornua, the co-operative behind some of Irelands best loved food brands, including Kerrygold, Dubliner and Pilgrims Choice. With operations spanning Africa, Asia and Europe, they’re a major player in both branded foods and ingredients, proudly marketing Irelands grass fed dairy advantage around the world.
As a business grounded in innovation and global growth, Ornua understands that building a strong team starts from day one. But when 11 new graduates joined their team, there was one big issue...
The Challenge: No Plan, No Understanding of Company Culture and No Connection
Ornua knew what not to do.
They didn’t want to subject their grads to a day of endless Powerpoint slides. They didn’t want another tick the box induction.
And they definitely didn’t want to miss the opportunity to build connection before the graduates even stepped into the workplace.
But without an existing onboarding process, they didn’t know where to start.
The pressure was on to create something that would:
✅ Help the grads feel part of the team
✅ Introduce the company culture in an authentic way
✅ Create real engagement
✅ And most importantly, set them up for long term success

What the Day Looked Like: A carefully Designed Induction Journey
Every part of the day had a purpose, but it never felt like “training”.
🌅 Morning: Dome Works
An immersive session focused on collaboration, helping the team spot strengths and uncover gaps.
→ Real-time teamwork and reflection laid the foundation for better collaboration in the workplace.
🏙️ Midday: Code Breaker
After a quick break, it was into problem solving and communication, with just enough friendly competition to keep things fun.
→ Participants worked together to unlock challenges, building trust and improving communication under pressure.
🌃 Afternoon: Spy Squad
We wrapped up with a high energy outdoor team challenge.
→ Teams navigated missions, cracked codes and ended the day with a lot of laughs and even more shared memories.
By the end of the day, the group had gone from strangers to a connected cohort ready to step into their roles with confidence.
The Before & After
Before:
A group of new hires with no onboarding process, no direction and no real introduction to Ornua’s culture.
After:
A connected, energised graduate team who:
- Understood the values of the business
- Built relationships on day one
- Left feeling seen, supported and excited to get started
