Institute of Banking: Creating a Collective Masterpiece with The Big Picture

The Institute of Banking (IOB) wanted a creative team activity as part of a wider corporate day at Tulfarris Hotel in County Wicklow.

The 68 participants had spent the morning in presentations and workshops, followed by lunch in the Fairways Restaurant. For the afternoon, IOB wanted to change the pace with an activity the group could work on together.

They chose The Big Picture, with the completed artwork also becoming part of the evening programme.

Setting Up The Big Picture

After lunch, the group moved to the Poulaphuca Suite, where our event manager introduced the activity and explained how the different sections of the artwork would fit together.

Participants worked on individual sections of a much larger design. As the different sections needed to line up when assembled, they had to pay attention to how their work connected with the wider picture.

From Individual Sections to One Mural

The group worked on their sections throughout the afternoon, referring to the wider design and coordinating as the artwork developed.

Once the painting was finished, participants took a break for tea and coffee while the Dynamic Events team assembled the individual sections.

The completed pieces were then brought together to reveal the final mural.

Taking the Activity into the Evening Event

The finished artwork wasn't packed away once the activity ended.

Our team moved the mural to the pre-dinner drinks area of the Russborough Suite, where it was displayed behind ropes for attendees to see during the drinks reception.

This meant the finished piece became part of the wider corporate day rather than ending with the afternoon activity.
