Remote Host, Real Fun: Collins McNicholas' Dynamic Galway Gathering

Collins McNicholas brought their hybrid team together for a Remote Host Digital Treasure Hunt in Galway. Forty participants joined in a mix of challenges, collaboration and shared laughter during their Company Gathering.

Collins McNicholas' Goals

Established in 1990, Collins McNicholas Recruitment & HR Services Group is an Irish company that sources talent and provides hiring solutions across a wide variety of sectors for its client companies.

The company wanted a team building activity for their Company Gathering in Galway. Their focus was on reconnecting colleagues from different locations and strengthening team culture in a relaxed, social setting.

Michelle Murphy, Director of Collins McNicholas Recruitment, explained why this mattered so much to their team:

“We often say that when we all get together, it's like we're at a family wedding! We might not have all seen each other for several months, but instantly it's like we were never apart!”

She described their goals clearly:

“As a company that thrives on connecting people, our team is our greatest asset. After a period of significant growth, with teams spread across multiple locations working in a primarily hybrid setup, we were keen to get everyone together and a little out of their comfort zones. We wanted an event that was less about formal presentations and more about rediscovering the joy of collaborating with colleagues in a fun, work-free environment.”

Our Role

Planning the Experience

Dynamic Events planned and delivered a Remote Host Digital Treasure Hunt for 40 participants. The activity started and finished at the Galway Bay Hotel. Teams explored the area using our app to complete photo, video and trivia challenges. The aim was to get people interacting with colleagues they don’t usually work with and to create a shared experience they’d remember.

Why a Treasure Hunt Worked for the Team

Michelle explained why this format stood out:

“The activity got the whole team out of their seats, on their feet and outside! Everyone could participate, and the blend of problem-solving, creativity and a little friendly competition was the perfect type of team building activity for our (sometimes very competitive) team!”

Remote Hosting for a Hybrid Team in Galway

The Digital Treasure Hunt in Galway was delivered through a remote hosting format. Our event host was beamed live from Dynamic Events’ offices in Wicklow into the Galway Bay Hotel using Microsoft Teams, which was Collins McNicholas’ platform of choice.

The host briefed the group at the start of the activity, setting the scene and guiding teams through the rules before they headed out around Galway. At the end of the hunt, the host reappeared live on screen to lead the showback session, share team highlights and reveal the final results.

This hybrid delivery combined the energy of an in-person team building activity with the flexibility of a remote host, making it a strong fit for a company with multiple locations and a hybrid working structure.

On the Day

High Energy and Healthy Competition

The atmosphere was strong from the start. Teams threw themselves into the challenges, strategised on the fly and kept a close eye on the leaderboard.

“The energy on the day was brilliant! It was fantastic to see people who don't usually get the chance to work together laughing, strategising and plotting together to outdo the other teams.”

The day ended with a show back of team photos and videos back at the hotel.

“The highlight was the presentation at the end of all the hilarious photos and videos each team had taken throughout the competition. Everyone was in stitches!”

Impact

Strengthening Team Culture

The feedback from the Collins McNicholas team was overwhelmingly positive. The activity gave everyone space to connect in a way that formal sessions can’t replicate.

“In today's hybrid and remote-working world, creating genuine, memorable connections among colleagues is more important than ever. This event achieved that in a way a traditional meeting or presentation never could. It's an investment in your company culture that pays back in spades through improved teamwork and morale.”

Working with Dynamic Events

A Smooth Process from Start to Finish

Working with the Dynamic Events team was straightforward and stress-free.

“From start to finish, it was an absolute pleasure. The booking process was seamless, and your team was incredibly helpful and responsive. Working with Dynamic Events took all the stress out of the planning and allowed us to simply enjoy the experience with our team.”

Michelle Murphy, Director

Without a single hesitation, yes - I’d recommend this event. In today's hybrid and remote-working world, creating genuine, memorable connections among colleagues is more important than ever.
