Galway Bay Hotel gives us a good mix of indoor event space and a location we can actually use for team building.

If you’re holding a meeting or conference at the hotel, we can run an activity there as part of the day. Or, because you’re right on Salthill Promenade, we can take the team outside and use the surrounding area for a GPS challenge.

Take the Competition into Salthill

Digital Treasure Hunt is an obvious choice here.

Teams leave the hotel with a GPS map showing hotspots around the area. It’s up to them which route they take and which hotspots they attempt. Reaching one unlocks a question, puzzle or photo and video challenge, with points feeding into the live leaderboard.

We’ve run this format from Galway Bay Hotel before, using the hotel as the start and finish point for a company treasure hunt around Galway.

If you have a conference schedule to work around, we can bring the team building into the hotel.

With Code Breaker, teams have a set amount of time to solve as many puzzles and clues as possible.

The Big Picture splits one large artwork across the group. Each team creates its own section before all the pieces are put together at the end.

For something completely different, SolarBuddy Hour of Power has teams assemble solar lights that are distributed to children living in energy poverty.

These are useful when you want to change the pace of a meeting or conference without sending everyone off site.

Got a Bigger Group?

Galway Bay Hotel has several meeting and conference spaces, including the Lettermore Suite, which can accommodate up to 600 people theatre-style. There are also smaller rooms that can be used for meetings, workshops and breakout sessions.

For us, the important part is having different spaces to work with. With a larger group, we can plan how teams are divided, where each part of the activity happens and how it fits around the rest of your programme.

The hotel also has accommodation on site, so the team building can form part of an overnight conference or company event rather than being the whole day.
