Senior Leadership Team Building at Druids Glen: Turning Feedback into Action
Gel Engineering partnered with Dynamic Events to turn internal 360 feedback into action through a senior leadership team offsite combining facilitated challenges with a high-pressure outdoor experience.
After completing 360-degree feedback internally, Gel Engineering’s UK senior leadership team reached a common challenge.
They had the insight. What they needed was action.
They partnered with Dynamic Events to design a senior leadership team building experience at Druids Glen that would bring those behaviours to life in a practical setting.
The Challenge
This was a senior leadership team that had already done the groundwork.
They had:
- Completed 360 feedback internally
- Reflected on leadership behaviours
- Identified personal actions
They needed an experience that would:
- Make leadership behaviours visible
- Test decision-making under pressure
- Strengthen alignment across the team
They also wanted something that would push people out of their usual environment.
Our Approach
Dynamic Events designed a senior leadership offsite focused on one outcome.
Application.
The day was structured to move the team through three stages:
Awareness → Application → Real-world pressure
Morning: Facilitated Leadership Challenge
We began with a Code Breaker session, fully facilitated by our team.
This created a structured environment to observe:
- Decision-making under pressure
- Communication and clarity
- How leadership roles emerged
The session linked directly to the team’s existing 360 feedback, encouraging participants to reflect on how their behaviours aligned with their personal actions.
Midday: Strategic Alignment
Following the session, the team moved into their internal meetings and working lunch.
This gave them space to reflect, align, and reinforce leadership priorities before the next phase.
Afternoon: Leadership in a High-Pressure Environment
The second half of the experience shifted into the Wicklow Mountains.
Dynamic Events managed a structured hiking experience led by a former Special Forces Ranger.
This was designed to reinforce key leadership behaviours, including:
- Communication and clarity
- Planning and decision-making
- Attention to detail under pressure
Throughout the experience, the team worked through terrain briefings, decision points, and a final debrief.
In a physically demanding and unpredictable setting, leadership behaviours became more visible and immediate.
Evening: Informal Connection
The day concluded with a planned evening experience at a local country pub, including live music, dinner, and a whiskey tasting session.
This was a deliberate part of the design.
After a demanding day, it gave the team space to:
- Continue conversations in a more relaxed setting
- Strengthen relationships
- Reinforce the shared experience
The Outcome
For senior leadership teams, the value of an offsite is not what happens on the day.
It is what carries back into the business.
This experience gave the team a practical way to engage with their development.
Instead of keeping feedback at a discussion level, they were able to:
- See how leadership behaviours showed up in real situations
- Understand how pressure impacts communication and decision-making
