Bringing Murphy Group's Family Day Together

Murphy Group is a multinational engineering and construction company with operations in the UK, Ireland, Canada and the USA. Their work covers transport, energy, water and natural resources.

Every year, Murphy Group organises a family day to thank staff and their families for their hard work and support. In 2025, they wanted to make it their biggest yet, bringing more than 400 people together at Palmerstown House Estate.

There was plenty to organise. Food, entertainment and setup all had to be coordinated around a limited access window at the venue. Catering needed particular attention, especially with children attending who had food allergies. There was also the challenge of making the day even better than the previous year's event.

Planning a Day for Everyone

We worked closely with Murphy Group to understand what they wanted from the day and what would suit their staff and families.

Our team took care of the catering, entertainment, suppliers, seating areas and signage. With dozens of suppliers involved, there was a lot to coordinate before anyone arrived.

We arranged 250 adult meals and 172 children's meals, with allergen protocols in place to cater for guests with dietary requirements.

For entertainment, there were bungee trampolines, gaming vans, face painting, arts and crafts, balloon modelling and stilt walkers. Families could also enjoy interactive animal shows and a petting zoo, while a DJ and a rock 'n' roll gladiator ring added to the fun.

We also arranged shaded picnic areas, picnic benches and a tea and coffee lounge for adults, giving people somewhere to sit, relax and catch up. Custom signage and a welcome archway were part of the setup too.

Behind the Scenes

Our team was on-site from 7am to get everything ready.

With so many activities and suppliers involved, keeping the schedule on track was an important part of the day. We managed the suppliers, coordinated the different elements of the event and had dedicated safety personnel on-site. Waste recycling was also managed throughout.

By 8pm, the full de-rig and clean-up had been completed.

A Great Day for Murphy Group

More than 400 guests attended, with plenty happening across the estate throughout the day. The event ran with zero incidents, and the feedback was positive.

It was also an opportunity for colleagues from different parts of the business, including site teams and head office staff, to spend time together away from work.

For us, the important part was making sure the whole day worked for Murphy Group and their families. That meant paying attention to the practical details, from food allergies and entertainment for different ages to supplier coordination and getting everything set up and cleared away on time.
