A Hands-On Sustainable Team Building Challenge
Wind Farm puts teams to work designing and building a wind-powered device capable of lifting a weight one metre off the ground. Every team starts with the same box of construction materials, but there’s a catch: each material carries its own CO₂ footprint.
Teams have to think carefully about what they use as they work against the clock to create a device that will pass the final test while keeping their footprint as low as possible. Once building time is up, teams take on a Sustainability Challenge using an iPad, earning points that reduce their CO₂ score before the devices are put to the test.
No technical or engineering experience is needed. It’s a hands-on corporate team building activity that combines building, competition and sustainability in a way that gives teams plenty to think about.

How Wind Farm Works
Teams start with the same materials and one challenge: build a wind-powered device that can lift a weight one metre while keeping their CO₂ footprint as low as possible.
Design & Build
Teams plan and build their wind-powered device using the materials provided. Every team gets the same materials and the same amount of time to complete their build.
Manage Your CO₂
Each material carries a CO₂ value, so using more isn't always the best approach. Teams need to balance building a working device with keeping their footprint down.
Sustainability Challenge
Once building stops, teams take on sustainability questions and creative photo and video challenges using an iPad. Points earned are deducted from their CO₂ score.
The Final Test
Our event manager tests each device in front of the group to see if it can lift the weight one metre off the ground
Lowest Footprint Wins
Final CO₂ scores are revealed at the end. To be in the running, the device has to work, with the lowest final CO₂ footprint taking the win.
