Caricature Team Building Workshop
Think your team can draw? Wait until they have to draw each other. This caricature team building workshop gets everyone involved, with live demos, sketching, and plenty of laughs. No experience needed.
A Caricature Workshop That Gets People Talking
To start, Niall O’Loughlin, one of Ireland’s leading caricature artists, gives a quick intro and shares examples of his work. He often finds people recognise his cartoons, which helps break the ice early. He then explains how to “see” a caricature, using simple, funny examples to show what makes each face different, along with a few tips for drawing eyes, noses and mouths.
Next, he invites a volunteer up and draws someone from the group live, talking through his technique as he goes. Then comes the twist. Everyone is told they’ll be drawing someone from the group themselves, and there’s always a bit of nervous laughter at that point. Some drawings are surprisingly good, others get a big reaction, and the room loosens up quickly.
Participants have 10 to 15 minutes to complete their drawings while Niall moves around, answering questions and giving advice. At the end, all drawings are revealed, usually placed out for everyone to see, and a top three is chosen along with the “don’t give up the day job” award. The session finishes with a final reveal, and three winners receive professionally finished caricatures after the workshop.
